December 2021

Hi Everyone

Christmas is my favourite time of the year. Although its very busy and people can get stressed, the meeting up with family and friends is what means the most to me. If you are alone this Christmas, please see inside for  details of the Rotary Club’s Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day. I hope to see you all at some point. Meanwhile everyone at Memory Lane wishes you all a happy and healthy 2022. Lets hope we have seen the worst of Covid and we can move onto happier times.

‍

The winners in the cash draw for October were

1st Prize   £100  Julie Jente

2nd prize  £30   Toby Phipps

3rd Prize   £30   Barry McHale

4th Prize   £30   Molly Robinson

We are raising approx. £200 a month for our funds.  If you would like to support Memory Lane by joining in the draw, please let me know. It costs £10 a month with half being returned in prizes.  Thank you to all who have signed up, it’s really helping us to keep providing services to our members.

‍

Christmas Tree Festival Outing.

We will visit St Mary’s Church Battle where approx. 40 trees will be displayed, including the one Memory Lane has decorated. We will leave approx. 1.15pm and return approx. 4.30-4.45. £5 per person.

See Carol for tickets.

This outing is aimed at people living with dementia and their carers. If we have tickets over they will be offered to Volunteers and the “Friends”. If there is no room on the coach, you are very welcome to make your own way over, but places still need booking with Carol, so we can arrange refreshments.

‍

Generational Opera

We are delighted to be working with Intergenerational Opera and St Andre s School Eastbourne.  Starting on Monday 24th January from 1.30-3.30pm.  Unfortunately we can only take 5 couples so please let me know  asap if you are  interested. You would need to be able to sign up for the 6 week course and the event staged at the end. The six week project will involve a 90 minute session each week with the pupils of St Andrews school, 10 members from Memory Lane,  two professional opera singers and a pianist.  Participants will learn music together, sing, have fun, create music and socialise. The project will culminate in a final   performance that we hope to show to family and friends, should this be allowed at the time.
